    A Bright Bit Of Yarn

    Tuesday, January 30, 2007, 04:43 PM [Kittensongs]

Well, today was therapy day with my daughter. This kittensong is a joyous one! It was a good session; very productive. Kitten is finally setting goals for herself and one of them is to be able to come home in about two months or so. We hope she makes it, and will hold her hand to help her along as much as she allows us.

For those that are new to my writings, Kitten is my teen daughter who spent much of her life with her father. When she came to me she was a 12 year old suicidal self injurer with schizophrenic and psychotic tendencies. She was a calamity and didn't wait long to happen all over the family when she came to live with us. She has spent much of the last year in a variety of teen inpatient facilities. For a while she was often having to be restrained in these facilities. They were about to transfer her to a detention facility for mentally ill teens when she finally made up her mind that enough was enough. We are glad to see her make more positive choices for herself and to begin to rise above the negative influence her father and others have had on her.

Before she can come home, she has to spend some time in a transitional care facility. Now that she has begun to get control of herself again, she feels a lot of guilt for many of the things she did. She could not help much of what she was doing at the time, and we encourage her to forgive herself as we forgave her long before this. She did cost us alot, but the bonding we gained from the experience is more than worth the pain we went through, and the whole family will come out of the experience better than when we went in.

Ayooah Kitten, your pack sings for you and awaits your return!

    Rules Nazis

Tuesday, January 30, 2007, 04:20 PM [Beige Banter]

Had one of my posts on a phpBB get noticed by a rules nazi. You know the type, its their forum and everything must be pigeonholed. Its especially funny when I find it on Pagan boards. This time I offended by including recipes for oils in an article on negative magic.

The rules nazi moved my post to a thread on oils, which was silly. Since the primary post was about negative magic and the oils were only a couple of examples, it would have made more sense to delete the oils (I even laid out the article to make it easy for the moderator to delete them) than to move the article to a random topic on oils just so those oil recipes could be pigeonholes.

The truly funny part to me was that the rules the rules nazi threw at me to scold me with had to do with posting spells and rituals, oil recipes are not spells or rituals. Bad Beige pissing off forum mods who take their lot in life way too seriously.

I hate rules nazis. I am all for rules, and am totally in favor of enforcing rules, but rules nazis are so confrontational about it. While they might think their endless rules lists for forum posts are clear cut, the rest of us know that most of their rules are applied differently to their friends than to the far more numerous users they don't know.

Ah well, as I told the rules nazi, I have other venues in which to share my multitude of information with, so I will no longer share actual magical techniques in theirs.

No, I will not say which forum it was, they are mostly a good site with only a rare few anal rules nazis for moderators and I do not want my readers to get the wrong idea about an otherwise fine place on the web for Pagans to hang out.

    Covenspace, meet Beige

    Monday, January 29, 2007, 09:10 PM [General]

Well, the fickle hand of fate brought me to yet another budding young Pagan site. This one looks pretty entertaining.

As I prep for the Imbolc/full moon ritual and gather I am hosting this week, this seems like a good way to blather at myself in yet another venue. I hope that people will enjoy what I post and strike up conversations with me, but often I feel like no matter where I type I am writing to different facets of myself.

Enlarged the firepit today and will spend the week painting and crafting decorations and altar corners. Have no budget for it, but thankfully I have a large collection of tools, trinkets, and treasures that I can use to add to the atmosphere. I wish I could buy this house, but I will rent here as long as I am able. If the Fates are kind either that will be a long time or I will find a way to keep this place. It's large enough to make a decent gathering center for many Pagan groups in the area.

Seems fitting to document my time here on a site called Covenspace since that is what I am hoping to build; a space for many covens and groups.
